We’ve heard times without number, content is king. Yes, it is. However, not all contents are kings. And the thing is, only “king contents” will convert most readers to customers. But the question is: who’s going to write these contents?
With the pace at which the internet is going today, where people are daily having problems they want solutions to, only websites with quality blog posts will stand a chance. So you may need the help of savvy freelance writers to help you out.
Good writers have all the time to provide the “king contents” that today’s readers hunger for. It’s their job. They give quality time and attention to it. They know what works and what doesn’t. They know the right dictions, topics, keywords and from experience, they can turn your blog into a sales machine.
So, that’s a glimpse of what a good freelance writer can do for you. But then, how do you spot these writers? How do you make sure you don’t fall in the hands of writers that would damage your blog with low-quality contents? Here are five tips that will help you out.
- The writer specializes in your niche
If you’re in the marketing niche, for instance, a freelance writer that specializes on marketing (or something very close) should be your best option. He’s definitely going to have more value to provide than a freelance writer who claims he can write anything writeable.
The truth is: there are some tips only experience can teach. A good writer in your field has a much better access to these tips. A random freelance writer can only gather ideas from other experts, but he doesn’t practice it. He has limited experience. If you really need a freelance writer that will supercharge your site with great contents, look around your niche.
Sometimes, finding a writer in your niche can be tasking. But if you ever manage to find a good one, he can turn your blog into a sales machine.
- They charge a premium
A quality writer will charge a premium. He knows what he has put into coming up with the article. He has spent quality time, resources and all. He knows that just one article he writes can get you sales that’s far more than the rate you’re paying him.
This gives him confidence, and under normal circumstances, he really doesn’t want to charge peanuts for his work.
- He knows how to write unique and useful contents
Of course, the writer would show you some samples, so this is something you should look out for. Does the writer writes unique and useful contents? Or he just writes useful content.
Writing unique content means writing contents that has not been published elsewhere. This uniqueness compels people to click through your blog posts and learn something new. While the usefulness of the unique article is what converts them to subscribers, customers, etc.
Hence, if you can’t find any uniqueness or usefulness in the writer’s samples, it’s an indicator that he may not be able to get quality posts for you.
- He’s really wants to know what your goal is
For example, you emailed a writer and the very first thing he talks about is how many articles you need him to write and how much are you willing to pay. He probably checked your about page and feels he’s okay with the information.
Nonetheless, I think the first question any writer should ask you is how do you want me to help? (Regardless of whether he checked your about page or not). He wants to know what you do so he can know how to work along.
- He’s not scared to take a trial
A good writer would agree to take a trial if he’s really sure about his quality. For example, I met with a client who asked me to do a sample (of course, at a specific price). He promised if the trial goes well, he’d sign up for a bulk order.
At first I didn’t agree to it. I thought he already saw my writing sample on a popular site, what else does he want? But then, I had a re-think and found no reason to refuse the trial. After all, he needs be assured of my quality before he risks his hard-earned cash, and come to think of it: he didn’t ask me to do it for free! A good writer should be able to take a trial.
Quality contents are what rule the internet today. People will talk, share, buy and talk about contents that make people’s life better. Hence, you don’t just need a writer; you need one that would turn your site or blog into a sales tool.
