At some time in a bloggers life they are going to be faced with a plateau. This could be a plateau in subscribers, traffic or just general interest in your blog. You may also find yourself losing interest in your blog and wondering if it is even worth keeping it up. Being a blogger can be hard work and take away time from other things like family and friends.
If the ends don’t justify the means, sometime you feel like throwing it all in.
I am writing this post from a personal perspective. Just last year I was losing interest in my blog. I hated writing the same old boring posts, didn’t feel like my blog was going anywhere and felt like giving up. I actually took a 2 week hiatus from my blog in order to give myself some time to work out what I wanted to do.

Strangely after just 2 weeks I missed my blog. I missed the feeling it gave me, the online presence, everything. I realised then that my blog had become such an integral part of my life that even if no-one ever reads it, I still do. At the end of the day remember that if it is something you love you will make time for it.
Here are my basic tips for keeping up your motivation in rough times.
1) Take a Break (timed)
Sometimes taking a break is the best thing you can do for yourself and your blog. Your readers can tell when you are bored so in turn they are bored. Coming back refreshed with some new ideas can be a great kick-start to more traffic and better posts. Make sure it is a timed break though (like one month) and let your readers know you will be back.
2) Don’t Give Up
You should never give up on something that brings joy into your life regardless of the circumstances. My traffic has hit a major plateau lately but this is a challenge and it encourages me to branch out and try new things with my blog. Sometimes we are too concerned with the little things. Have fun and your readers will too.
3) Look for Inspiration
Go onto Pinterest, other blogs, and review sites or wherever you can to find inspiration for your blog. One of the best motivations in life is inspiration so get cracking!
4) Stay Focused
Overall you need to stay focused on the bigger picture. It may take time but the plateau will end. Blogging can be a life changing experience so embrace it with both hands and enjoy the ride.
