A lot of new bloggers start off blogging daily. A blog is fun and can be challenging and rewarding. Getting in readers and traffic and important to the new blogger (and old alike) but sometimes life gets in the way. It could be that your blog has grown boring, that you started a new job or study or that your family demands more time and attention. Any of these things can impact on your ability to post regularly.
Posting regularly can help you get in more readers and of course keep the current ones entertained. People get bored if you post irregularly and like anything people like consistency. Whether you post once a week, every week on a Wednesday or whether you post every day at 5pm, ensure you try to keep up some consistency.
Here are some quick tips for posting on a regular basis.
1) Plan in advance
I try (emphasize on the word try) to plan my blog posts in advance. I actually bought a personal planner for this to keep track of things I need to do any ideas for blog posts. Having a weekly segment of feature on your blog is also a great way to plan posts and attract readers. I have a weekly feature and some monthly features on my blog and they work really well.
2) Schedule your posts in advance
No matter what blogging platform you are using it is possible to schedule your posts in advance. You could allocate a few hours over the weekend to your blog and have all of your weekly posts scheduled to be published at a certain time every day. I use this option when I post to bloggingtips.com as I live in Australia and cannot be up to post at 6am (EST 3pm).
3) Know what works
Do a little research and find out what works for your blog. When are your readers most active on your site? Schedule your posts for this time. What features do readers seem to be enjoying? Make sure you keep up these features!
Overall blogging regularly and consistently comes down to good time management skills. I hope these tips help you out (and I hope I can stick to them!)
