How To Turn Visitors Into Subscribers

One of the trickiest things with running a blog is to turn visitors into actual subscribers. Many people may enter your blog to find something of interest via Google or other search engines. Some may be brought in by a post that has gone viral.  A lot of times they are just passing through and may never return again. However this is not always the case and it is possible to turn visitors into followers and avid readers.
Here are some of the things I have learnt over the past few years of blogging.
Design:
Design is important for capturing and keeping readers. A well planned out, easy to read and accessible blog can do wonders for your traffic. I have visited so many blogs that have great content but terrible designs and this unfortunately means I generally don’t return. Who wants to be reading a pink script text with a bright printed background glaring at you? When in doubt always choose basic fonts in dark colors with lots of white space.
Content:
Email SubscribersUp-to-date and relevant content that is well written and informative is key for capturing your audience. Great content also involves an aesthetic element in that articles should be broken up with at least one image to keep the reader interested. I always find blogs that incorporate images into posts much more entertaining than ones than write long, boring spiels that you lose interest in, in the first paragraph. Keep it short and make it visually appealing in some way.
Subscription Options:
Ever visited a blog you thought was amazing and couldn’t find anywhere to subscribe to it? I have and this always annoys me because then I have to bookmark it and usually don’t bother coming back. Make sure your subscriptions options are always visible to your readers
 Related posts:
Using a widget showing related posts is imperative for ensuring people stay on your blog for longer. Most blogging platforms have this as an optional widget/gadget but I like to used Link Within. It picks up on tags and displays similar posts. I notice in my stats that a lot of people use this option on my blog which is great for more page views and hopefully subscribers.
