How to Pre-Plan for Success with a Niche Review Site

One of the most exciting times before launching a new site of your own is thinking about everything that you will have on your site and the floods of traffic that you will have coming to, in addition to all of the piles of money coming in!
Yes… that is what we all “dream” about when starting a new web site or blog.
The problem is that many of us will quickly run over to GoDaddy and buy the first awesome name that we can think of, then throw up a wordpress site, write some content… then lose motivation in the site and let it die out because it didn’t get any traffic or make any money in it’s first month!
That’s the problem… you didn’t plan out your site like a true business!
Running a web site or blog on the internet is no different than any other business, in the aspect that it needs to have a real plan of attack and expected growth over the next several weeks to months.
Some points you are going to want to think about are:
  • Who is my niche audience and why are they coming to my site?
  • Can I rank in the search results for relevant terms?
  • How am I going to monetize my site and traffic?
In this article we are going to talk about how to rip apart a successful niche review blog so you can take these steps and put them in place before you get started.
We are going to be looking at two examples… one in the gaming space and another in the hosting space.
Not only will we take a look at their sites to see how they are making reviews work for their sites, but also some of the popular keywords they will be going after as well.
First let’s take a look at Roulette Casino Reviews – http://www.roulette.co.uk/casinos/, which specializes in comparing the top online gaming sites for playing roulette.

You can see they have a great looking site that focuses on roulette throughout the design. If you were to visit the site and see the full design, you would see that they “Casino Reviews” section in the main area goes down the page. In this area they are offering the option to PLAY or read the full REVIEW on each site.
This is an excellent method for not only driving traffic, but also for generating pure content for the site as each review is it’s own new post. Of course the site’s goal is to pass along as much player traffic as possible, so it’s in their best interest to rank for some of the top gaming and roulette sites on the internet.
Using Google Keyword Tool and pulling the names from their site, we can see that there is a decent amount of traffic out there if they were to rank for each referring gaming site. Also don’t forget about all of the long tail variations of these keywords they could be ranking for as well.

The next site I want everyone to look at is Web Hosting Geeks. This is a niche that many of us are probably already familiar with, as bloggers love to push web hosting affiliate programs on their sites since they have such high payouts.
This is also one of the leading reasons why Web Hosting Geeks –  has been so successful at building out their site and getting reviews from users all over the world. They are currently one of the top hosting review sites and ranking at the top of the search engines for various hosting related terms.

Once again, we can take a look at the Google Keyword Tool to see how many people are out there searching for hosting related terms. In addition to the basic hosting names that people might be searching for, you will also see a wide variation of long tail keywords of hosting names with words like “coupons” and “reviews” added into the mix.

What Type of Niche Review Site will You Make?

From the two examples above you should now have a better idea on what the basics are behind creating a great niche review site. The most important thing is that you focus on your content so people will actually find your site useful and take action once reading your content. The core business and revenue structure will also be based on the amount of referrals you can push to your niche partners. Lastly, always look at the keywords and long tail variations that you may be able to target when starting a site. The best way to find success is to continually expand your reach to cover everything possible within your tight niche group.
