Building a Strong Reputation for Your Brand and Blog

Building your own brand is extremely important! While at Pubcon in Las Vegas last week I had to chance to get interviewed bySearchEngineJournal and talk a bit about the world of online reputation and building a brand.
I’m always stressing about the importance of building your own brand and not focusing all of your efforts on generating traffic and leads for other advertisers. While this is a legitimate business model that will continue to make you money as long as you send leads, it’s not a viable or scalable solution for longterm growth.
The best way to grow your business for the future is to start focusing on building your own personal brand. This doesn’t have to be your “personal name” brand, but it should be a web site or business that you own.

How To Build A Strong Reputation For Your Brand: Interview With Zac Johnson At #Pubcon 2013

Here are some of the points I touched on during the interview:
  • The best way to start building your brand is through guest blogging and connecting with the top bloggers, brands and personalities within your niche. These sites already have the exact audience you are looking for. If you can get your face, name and content in front of these people, that’s the best exposure you can get!
  • If you want to build a powerful brand, focus on what you are good at and strive to be the “go to” source and authority in your specific niche.
  • One of the best ways to rank higher in the search results and even dominate the whole first page for your target keywords or brand name is to link back to your social profiles. Since sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook have so much authority, it’s quite easy to get them to rank on the first page for your personal or business name.
Thanks for checking out the video and I hope to hear more from all of you about how you are focusing on growing your own brand and moving away from sending all of your traffic and data to other companies for a small one time payment!
